زعيم مسلمي البوسنة يغادر اجتماعا للاتحاد الأوروبي غاضباً

غادر زعيم مسلمي البوسنة بكر عزت بيجوفيتش اجتماعا مع ممثلي الاتحاد الأوروبي غاضبا اليوم الجمعة في سراييفو بعد أن اتهم الزعيم الصربي ميلوراد دوديك الأغلبية المسلمة في البلاد بالرغبة في السيطرة على البلد بأكمله، حسبما صرح أحد المشاركين في المحادثات.

وكان الهدف من الاجتماع الذي جاء بتخطيط من الاتحاد الأوروبي أن يكون محاولة جديدة لتخطي عقدين ماضيين من الجمود السياسي في البوسنة، حيث التقت منسقة السياسة الخارجية في الاتحاد الاوروبي فيديريكا موجيريني ومفوض التكتل لسياسة الجوار يوهانس هان مع رئيسي الدولتين.

وترغب موجيريني وهان في الحصول على تأكيد خطي من أهم 12 سياسي في البلاد بالإصلاحات التي وعدوا بتنفيذها في إطار مسعى البلاد لنيل عضوية الاتحاد الأوروبي.

ولدى أكبر ثلاث مجموعات عرقية في البوسنة - البوشناق والصرب والكروات - الحق في الاعتراض على أي تشريع في البوسنة. وقد أوقفت المشاحنات بين الزعماء العرقيين جميع الإصلاحات تقريبا وجمدت التقدم نحو عضوية الاتحاد الأوروبي منذ سنوات.

Dudley mosque row settled at Court of Appeal in favors of council

A long-running dispute over the location of a new mosque has been settled by the Court of Appeal in favour of Dudley Borough Council.

The legal row centred on plans to replace Dudley Central Mosque on Castle Hill with one on land off Hall Street.
The Dudley Muslim Association (DMA) bought the land from the council, but the authority wanted to buy it back
The DMA accused the council of "caving in" after protests from groups, including the English Defence League.
The three appeal judges unanimously ruled in favour of the council.

Amjid Khan from the DMA said he was "deeply disappointed" by the decision, which he claimed came from the council "caving in" after protest marches were organised by the English Defence League, and a similar group, Britain First.

He said: "We made every effort to work with the council and other leaderships to construct a modern fit-for-purpose mosque and community facility to meet the ever-growing needs of our disadvantaged community.

"Faced with vociferous opposition from various groups, the Dudley leadership at all levels caved in. This leadership can regrettably take pride in preventing an otherwise respectful and co-operative community from fulfilling its ambition to build up-to-date premises in Hall Street."
But leader of the council, Pete Lowe, said the authority had "always acted lawfully and reasonably" in an "open and transparent scrutiny process supported by all political parties".

The legal hearings were about a contractual dispute dating back to 2005, when the council transferred the land at Hall Street to the DMA, with a clause that the land would transfer back to the council if the proposed development was not completed by the end of 2008.
Earlier this year, an offer by the DMA to pay £325,000 to settle the dispute and retain the land was rejected by the council.
The authority has acknowledged a need for a new mosque to replace the existing building in Castle Hill, which is not fit for purpose, and has said it will work with the DMA to find an alternative site.
Mr Khan said the Muslim community "will now need a period of calm reflection and consider its future progress".
The Bishop of Dudley, the Right Reverend Graham Usher has urged the local community to "move forward in the spirit of reconciliation and shared endeavour" in an attempt to find a location for the new mosque, for which "there is an urgent need".
The DMA must hand the land back to the authority in January, and was also ordered to pay the council's legal costs.

A mosque with the world's highest minaret is under construction in Istanbul. Critics of the project say it was badly planned and fear it represents a step towards a stronger Islamic influence in Turkey.

The highest hill in Istanbul is in the district of Camlica, located on the Asian side of Turkey's largest city. It is a popular viewpoint to admire the skyline of the ancient metropolis, featuring a minaret of a historical mosque that dates back to the times of the Ottoman Empire.

But in the near future, all eyes might be on the hill itself. This is the future site of a "huge" mosque that, when built, would be seen "from any point in Istanbul," according to Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Construction of the controversial project started in March. According to the Turkish newspaper "Today's Zaman," the property will be a 15,000 square meters (161460 square feet), or more than 2,000 soccer fields. The construction costs are estimated to be 43 million euros ($57.4 million) and the mosque will have space for some 30,000 people.

"When it comes to size, the project is very demanding. We will build an even bigger dome than our ancestors," said Haci Mehmet Güner to the Turkish newspaper "Hürriyet." Erdogan recently named him the head architect of the mosque project. "The mosque will have the world's highest minaret; it will be even bigger than the 105-meter-high minaret of the Medina-i Munawara mosque in Medina, Saudi Arabia."

The highest point in Istanbul is Camlica Hill. At 288 meters, it can be seem from most vantage points throughout the city. On May 29, 2012 Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced: “We are going to build a mosque over 15,000 meters square next to the broadcasting tower in Camlica. The planning work is nearing completion. … This giant mosque in Camlica was designed so as to be visible from all parts of Istanbul.” According to a recent survey, however, the public appears to object to the decision to develop at this location.
